Madame Consuelo is a documentary that reflects on the forgotten and hidden stories. My great-grandmother, Consuelo Guasp Perelló, was a Madame of three brothels in Valencia in the convulsed 30s, 40s and 50s. She suffered a stroke in 1956 after dictatorship forced the closing of her business. She went to live with her religious daughter, who could not forgive the past of her mother. Of her, there is practically nothing left but a few anecdotes, a handful of photographs and the voice recording that underpins this work.
